Composite Door Respray Cost Plymouth (2026)

How much does it cost to respray a composite front door in Plymouth in 2026? £280–£420 fitted. Full pricing guide with no hidden extras.

A new composite front door costs £1,200–£2,500 supply-and-fit in Plymouth. A respray of the door you already own costs £280–£420 fitted. Here's the full transparent pricing breakdown for 2026.

Quick answer

Most Plymouth composite door resprays land at £320–£380. Add £80–£140 for side panels. Add £60–£120 if we are changing colour on the frame too. Total walk-away price for a typical front door + frame in any RAL or BS colour: £380–£500.

Pricing by door type

Standard composite door — £280–£380

Solidor, Distinction, Endurance, Rockdoor, Hurst, GAP and similar. Includes full pre-clean, adhesion-promoter primer, base coat and 2K UV-stable topcoat. Both faces sprayed. Letterbox and door furniture removed and refitted.

Composite door with full glass apron — £350–£420

French-style composite, glazed sidelights integrated, or stable-door styles. More masking, sometimes more colour fades around the glass beading.

Frame respray — £80–£140 extra

The uPVC or aluminium frame around the door. Often the bit that makes the biggest visible difference. We strongly recommend doing the frame at the same time as the door — they should match (or contrast deliberately).

Side panel — £60–£100 each

Half-height or full-height sidelights. Usually 1–2 per door entrance.

uPVC threshold & sill cap — included as standard

We don't charge extra for the threshold and sill.

Letter plate, knocker and number — included

Removed, sprayed off the door (or kept original if you prefer) and refitted. You can also change handle/knocker/letter plate colour separately — chrome to matt black is a popular upgrade.

What's included as standard

  • Pre-clean and degrease (twice) — composite doors collect a lot of pollution
  • Any RAL, BS or custom-matched colour — no surcharge for "premium" shades
  • Adhesion-promoter primer
  • Base coat + two coats UV-stable 2K composite-grade topcoat
  • Both faces sprayed (inside and outside)
  • Removal & refit of letter plate, knocker, numbers, peephole
  • Full masking of glass, brick, render, paths
  • 10-year written paint guarantee

What can change the price

  • Two-tone door — different colour each face, or border picked out — adds about 15%
  • Distance — Plymouth, South Hams, east Cornwall standard rate. Far west Cornwall or north Devon may include a small travel charge
  • Workshop vs on-site — usually on-site, but we can take the door off for an off-site spray (slightly cheaper in some scenarios, better finish quality)
  • Repairs — significant scratches, dings or chipped composite edges may need filler and add £40–£80

How long does it take?

A standard door respray takes one full day on-site (8 a.m. arrival, 4 p.m. done), with the door unusable for around 2–3 hours during spraying and cure. We work around school runs and post-deliveries. If we take the door to the workshop, you're without a front door for one daylight period — we refit before close of business.

Cost vs replacement

Replacing the door alone (no frame): £1,200–£2,500 supply-and-fit in Plymouth. Replacing door + frame + sidelights: £2,500–£4,500. Respray same scope: £380–£500. Saving: ~80–90%.

FAQs

How much does it cost to respray a composite front door in Plymouth?

Most composite door resprays are £280–£380 for the door alone. Add £80–£140 for the frame and £60–£100 per side panel. Typical complete front entrance respray: £380–£500.

Is respray cheaper than replacement?

Yes — roughly 80–90% cheaper. A respray at £400 vs a replacement at £2,000+.

Does dark colour cost more?

No. RAL 9005 jet black, anthracite grey, sage green and heritage red are all the same price as a pale colour.

Will the spray cover the existing colour?

Yes. A primer + base coat + two topcoats fully obscures the original. We can go from white to black or black to cream — no shadowing.
